Topic: Father’s Day
The thought for today is from a Trail Life USA article about Father’s Day.
This Father’s Day, we pause to honor the men who quietly and faithfully shape the hearts of the next generation. In a culture that often diminishes the role of men, we stand for something different. We believe boys need godly men — fathers, grandfathers, mentors, and men of the church — who will walk beside them, guide them, and call them toward courageous manhood
That’s why in Trail Life Troops across the country, you’ll find dads and father-figures lacing up boots, lighting campfires, opening Scripture, and modeling leadership.
They’re showing boys:
what servant leadership looks like,
how to persevere when the trail gets steep,
how to honor God above all, and
how to treat others with strength and compassion.
And through it all, lives are being changed.
That’s the story of Lucas and Jacob—two brothers being raised by a single mom, Judy. She loved her sons deeply, but she knew she couldn’t model manhood for them. So she prayed. And God answered. “God didn’t just send a man,” she said. “He sent an army of them.”
Through Trail Life, Lucas and Jacob found godly mentors—men who showed up week after week, shared their lives, and pointed them toward Christ. And slowly, the roots began to grow.
Many of our Trailmen will tell you years later — it wasn’t just the skills they learned around the fire. It was the men they watched and walked beside that made all the difference.
So this week, we celebrate the men who carry coolers, patch scraped knees, back up trailers on the first try (or pretend they did), and rise early to read the Word before anyone else is awake.
The men who give up weekends, comfort, and sleep to build something eternal. They are steady. Faith-fueled. Mission-ready. And they’re shaping godly men.
“The righteous who walks in his integrity— blessed are his children after him!”
— Proverbs 20:7
